Cottages at Bailey's Resort
A Short Introduction
As Bailey's Resort grew from our original family homestead
of 1888, it
became clear that many visitors liked the simple rustic charms offered by a
quiet cottage in
the forest.
As a result,
by the early 1920s the Baileys had added dozens of guest
places at the resort.
Constructed mostly from local
milled timber and stone, each cottage interior was finished
by seasoned craftsman using hand tools and the truck-powered "portable" table-saw
shown below!
Many of these
quaint and wonderfully historic places are still a part of
Bailey's, and we have recently remodeled a few for use as short
term rental cottages.
Each cottage is fully equipped, has a kitchen, stone fireplace and fresh liens
and bedding are provided throughout.
What to
Expect at Bailey's Palomar Resort
Unlike other weekend cabins around the mountain,
our place is truly unique. We are the only private, gated and staffed resort
facility on Palomar.
Our century
old, sixty acre heritage property includes lots of open space. As a guest,
you may stroll
at will through our upper and lower meadows, visit our fish pond, explore our old
growth forests and walk among our antique-apple orchard - which was planted in
the 1890s by Theodore Bailey himself.
At Baileys,
you will enjoy the privacy and
courtesy you might expect from over a century of hosting guests at our
family-owned- and-oriented back-country resort.
Upon your
arrival, you will be courteously greeted by a member of our family. You will
then be personally escorted to your accommodations and given a brief
introduction to our resort and some tips on exploring Palomar Mountain.
In the
wintertime you will have exclusive use of reserved parking on the pavement at our resort entrance.
And we can provide our guests with transportation over the snow covered resort
roadways as the need arises!
And Some
Things You Will Avoid
Our accommodations are not located in clustered neighborhoods. There will be no "find the cabin" maps, no
"surprise-neighbors" no loud stereos, parking issues or rowdy parties
next door.
In the
wintertime you won't find yourself digging a parking place in the snow, or hiking in over
snow-covered dirt roads with your belongings in tow. You will never be searching
around for hidden keys, lock-boxes, or discover that there are "caretakers" living in the cabin along
with you - the paying guest.
Here at
Baileys, we are always pleased to answer any question you may have - by phone,
email, or in person when you arrive. We speak personally and at length with every prospective guest during
the reservation process to assure that you have the best possible accommodations
and arrangements for your stay here on Palomar Mountain!

All our
cottages are priced the same, where two Adults stay for
$150 per night.
This price includes wintertime energy.
Please add $50 per night for each additional adult.
Children under 12 stay free.
