"The
Cedars"
Our One Bedroom,
Split Level,
"Cottage In The Sky"
This is
our cedar bark sided, split level,
rustic cabin in the woods. It is almost entirely covered by the
forest canopy, making it cool and comfortable even on the warmest summer
days.
The Cedars is nestled in the forest at the head of our valley and
is exceptionally quiet. The Cedars is accessible only via a locked gate and it's own
unimproved access road.
The cabin comes
appointed and with all the usual amenities. And for that total getaway
experience, there is also no phone ~ or cell coverage, for that matter.
Let's take a
quick walk through, below.
 The living room has an
open beam ceiling made from the local cedar trees.
It shelters a hand-made stone hearth and fireplace opposite a cozy window seat
overlooking the forest.
Here you'll find the usual electronic gadgets, including a TV,
DVD/VCR player, a CD/radio,
plus an
ornate, century old, upright piano
should the mood for live music strike you
(we think it was last tuned during "Ike's" first term).
The living room is also a great place to just kick back and enjoy the peace
and quiet.
Many guests especially enjoy the little window seat.
 The kitchen has all the
usual stuff, including a coffee maker, microwave oven, refrigerator, gas
stove and oven.
There's no automatic dishwasher - but remember, you're "roughin' it."
The Kitchen also has a remarkable view of the forest, unspoiled by any other
structures (or any other folks for that matter).
 Passing through French
doors, the bedroom has a king sized bed (with electric blanket) and a full closet.
The bathroom (with shower) is centrally located off the hall.
For the kids (or the couple that drew the short straw) there is a fold-out
couch in the living room, in front of the fireplace.
The rear patio contains a
platform rocker, redwood table with seating for four and a propane BBQ, making
it the spot for outdoor dining.
So how about that winter weather?
The Cedars is available all year around, and is accessible
by
four-wheel-drive most of the winter.
Occasionally, heavy winter snows may require a hearty hike from the pavement,
but for those intrepid soles who brave the elements (after warming by the fire)
it makes the experience all the more enjoyable (not to mention sledding back
down the access road!).
The Cedars can accommodate up to four adults, or a family with a
couple of youngsters.
Pricing for The Cedars is based on the number of
persons in your group and the duration of your stay. Discounts are
available for three or more nights, and for mid-week rentals.
