Building
began in 1888 as the adobe homestead
of pioneers Theodore & Mary Bailey and their family of 6 children
(all posing, at right, in front of their new home).
By 1913 The
Bailey House had grown into the seven bedroom Palomar Hotel was
the center of the Palomar community
(complete with back country hay rides for hotel guests).
After
the Great War, The Bailey House had became the center
piece of
Bailey's Palomar Resort, which also included Palomar's post office, the
Bailey's store complete with soda fountain, the dancehall, restaurant,
cabins, tents and campground.
The Bailey House
finally closed its doors as a hotel in 1941, having hosted guests every summer
for over five decades.

Today, this unique piece of San Diego county history is just as charming as
ever.
The
newly remodeled Bailey House still
maintains the look and feel of the old days.
We
have restored each room to its original 1920's style and decor, talking you back
to the golden days at
Bailey's Palomar Resort .
